Vegan influencer who followed an extreme diet has died at the age of 39.

Vegan influencer Zhanna Samsonova, known online as Zhanna D’Art, has tragically died at the age of 39.

Originally from Moscow, Russia, she built a following around her plant-based lifestyle, raw food content, yoga practice, and years of travel across Asia, which she documented on social media.

Her strict diet and lifestyle choices drew both admiration and concern over time.

Following her death, her mother, Vera Samsonova, spoke to Russian media, saying she had long worried about her daughter’s extreme approach to eating and lifestyle. She said, “She chose this path. I fought for many years, but she did not listen.”

Friends also described growing concern over her condition in the months leading up to her death, saying she appeared increasingly frail and resistant to advice to seek medical help.

Samsonova died on July 21, 2023, in Malaysia. The official cause of death was not publicly confirmed.
