Authorities are now piecing together Cole Tomas Allan’s alleged plan in detail, examining everything from his discreet hotel check-in days before the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to the weapons he is said to have carried and his attempted approach toward a heavily secured perimeter.
Investigators believe preliminary findings indicate he may have been seeking mass casualties, allegedly targeting Trump administration officials and others in the vicinity. What has drawn particular concern, however, is a reported manifesto attributed to him—described as a cold, structured outpouring about “arrogant” security and “incompetence,” written shortly before the incident.
In those writings, Allan is said to have noted the lack of visible screening or scrutiny as he moved through the area carrying multiple weapons. Officials maintain that “the system worked,” pointing out that Trump and attendees were not harmed. Still, the manifesto is being viewed by some as a troubling reminder that security gaps, even when not exploited successfully, can reveal vulnerabilities with serious implications for the future.
