A moment of remembrance for the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the families forever changed. 🌹🙏🏼
In New York, away from the ceremony and structure of official state events, King Charles and Queen Camilla took part in a quieter moment of remembrance. At the 9/11 Memorial, they walked slowly along the reflecting pools, pausing among the nearly 3,000 names engraved in stone.
King Charles left a handwritten message expressing “everlasting solidarity” with the American people, a gesture of sympathy that felt deeply personal in the setting. It read less like formal diplomacy and more like shared reflection on a tragedy that continues to echo across time.
Queen Camilla also spent time speaking with and comforting relatives of victims, including an emotional embrace with Anthoulia Katsimatides, whose brother John was killed in the attacks. The visit underscored the enduring weight of grief still carried by families, and the importance of simply being present in remembrance.
