It’s strange how quickly the mind can turn a small, harmless object into something unsettling. Every little segment seemed like it might shift or unfold, and even the shadows around it felt like movement. I kept checking the cat, half expecting her to react strangely, as if she might have brought it in herself. For a while, I didn’t even want to get too close, let alone touch it.
Eventually, curiosity won out over unease, and a quick search online turned the whole thing around. It wasn’t a worm, an egg sac, or anything sinister—just a dried seed pod that likely got carried in on the cat’s fur and ended up on the couch.
What felt alarming at first slowly turned into relief, then a bit of laughter. Still, the experience stuck with me: how ordinary things can look eerie when you don’t recognize them. Now I find myself double-checking even the smallest speck on the sofa before brushing it off.
