Within minutes, hail began to fall—light at first, then suddenly intensifying into something far more alarming. Many described the stones as unusually large, some comparing them to golf balls or even baseballs. The noise alone was enough to unsettle anyone nearby, as ice pounded against roofs, cars, and pavement with a force that sent people scrambling indoors. One resident said it “sounded like rocks hitting the house.”
When the storm passed, the damage was impossible to miss. Cars were left dented, windshields cracked, and several homes showed clear signs of roof damage from the relentless barrage. Streets were littered with chunks of ice, broken branches, and debris scattered by sudden gusts of wind. Emergency crews advised residents to remain inside until it was safe, then quickly moved in to assess the situation.
Meteorologists later explained that while hailstorms aren’t unusual in the area, the size of the hail and the speed at which the storm developed made this one stand out. As the ice melted and calm returned, neighbors stepped outside to check on each other and share their experiences—shaken, but relieved that no injuries had been reported.
