Sirens mixed with the sound of gunfire as Michael Marx, wounded by multiple bullet impacts, was transported urgently to George Washington University Hospital. Inside the ambulance, according to the criminal complaint, he allegedly reacted with aggressive defiance toward authorities, shouting remarks directed at the White House and provoking officers as he was treated. Nearby, a child injured by a stray bullet was also receiving medical care, with officials noting the injuries were not life-threatening.
The incident reportedly occurred shortly after Vice President Vance’s motorcade had passed through the area, and comes amid heightened security concerns in Washington following another armed confrontation days earlier near a White House-related event attended by Donald Trump. Federal prosecutors have characterized that earlier case as an attempted assassination and have indicated that additional charges may follow. Together, the two incidents have intensified scrutiny of security protocols in the capital and raised broader concerns about recent threats in the region.
