Beloved pizza chain s closes all US locations and files for bankruptcy after 50 years

For decades, Gina Maria’s Pizza wasn’t just a meal—it was a community tradition. From Minnetonka to Eden Prairie, families marked moves, reunions, and Friday nights with its iconic red-and-white boxes. So when it abruptly closed in October, the shock felt personal: no goodbye, no final order, just silence followed by a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing revealing $3 million in debt and almost nothing left. Chapter 7 signals liquidation, not a revival. Ovens, mixers, and memories are set to be sold to satisfy creditors, while longtime fans are left with little more than nostalgia.

Yet a spark remains. At the former Eden Prairie location, Pizzas Gina has reopened under owner Ulises Godinez, preserving the original recipes and even some of the original equipment. In an era when national chains like Albertsons and Safeway are shuttering stores and cutting jobs, this small-scale revival suggests that local ownership—and community commitment—may be what sustains beloved food traditions.
