A fast-moving blaze tore through Pamplona Alta, spreading in seconds and turning into a massive inferno that destroyed hundreds of homes within minutes.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but narrow streets, rough terrain, and restricted access made containment efforts extremely challenging. Dense smoke blanketed parts of southern Lima as residents fled in panic, carrying children and whatever belongings they could grab. In a matter of minutes, many lost their homes and nearly everything they owned.

The situation escalated further after reports of small explosions within the fire zone. Officials suspect the flames may have spread to an illegal fireworks workshop operating in the area, though the exact cause is still under investigation. Preliminary estimates indicate that as many as 300 homes may have been damaged or completely destroyed.

Hundreds of families are now displaced and facing an uncertain path forward. Emergency relief teams are on site providing temporary shelter, food, and medical assistance. The disaster has also intensified concerns over fire risks in densely populated informal settlements, where recovery will depend heavily on sustained aid and community support.
