Floria Dried Apricots, distributed by Turkana Food Inc., have drawn attention to how easily food label accuracy can impact consumer safety. The recall involves packages marked with a November 2026 expiration date, LOT #440090478-15-333, and UPC 2539560010, and is linked to the presence of undeclared sulfites.
While sulfites are a commonly used preservative, they must be clearly listed on packaging, as they can trigger reactions in individuals with asthma or sulfite sensitivity. In these cases, exposure may lead to symptoms such as hives, breathing difficulties, or more severe allergic responses.
So far, no illnesses have been reported. The recall serves as a reminder of how important transparent labeling is in helping consumers make informed, safe choices—especially when it comes to ingredients that may not be obvious but can still carry serious health implications.
