Our beloved Wheel of Fortune host Chuck Woolery has passed away at the age of 83. Widely remembered as the original host of Wheel of Fortune, he leaves behind a legacy as one of television’s most recognizable and influential game show personalities.
According to his close friend and podcast co-host Mark Young, who spoke with TMZ, Woolery had been at his home in Texas when he began feeling unwell and decided to rest. Later, his condition worsened, and he experienced difficulty breathing. Emergency services were called, but sadly, he passed away before help arrived.
Born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Woolery built a long and varied career in entertainment as a television host, musician, and performer. Before becoming a household name on game shows, he started in music as a member of the pop group The Avant-Garde, which had success with the 1968 hit “Naturally Stoned.”
He later continued in music as a solo country artist before transitioning into television, where he became a familiar face in homes across America through his work on several popular game shows.
His passing marks the end of an era for fans who grew up watching his warm and charismatic presence on screen.
